D.I.Y Crafts
I wanted to share some crafty things I have been doing this summer to get ready for my classroom. I am really obsessed with Pintrest and TPT right now, so that is where I got most of my ideas. This crate seat is the first craft I tried. Honestly this was a little harder than I thought, though totally worth it. I couldn't have done it with out my hubby though! I bought the crates at Walmart for $3.50, the ply board for the seat was about $15 (which made 6 seats), I bought the foam from Goodwill for $7 (still new), and the fabric from Walmart for about $7. I was seriously thrifty though and bought everything of super sale.
For the ply wood, I asked them to cut it to fit the crate and to make sure it wouldn't fall through. They where really nice and did not charge us the $1 per cut. Then I traced the foam from the wood and cut it. Lastly we wrapped the fabric around the board. This was the hardest part because if it is too loose it won't look good, and it needs to be an even tightness all the way around. My husband used upholstery nails, but I wish we would have spent the $20 for the staple gun because it was a pain! But after a couple hours of work here is our seats!
Next craft I did was the Poms. I love these so much! they just brighten up a room, and they are so cheap and easy to make. I bought tissue from the dollar tree. I used 10 pieces to make it fuller. Tons of You-tube videos online.
These are whisper phones. turned out super cute! I bought PVC pipe for a couple dollars, elbows for about $7 dollars, and spray paint for $4 dollars. I did buy liquid cement but found we didn't need it. We cut the PVC pipe in 3 and 1/4 in, but I wish we would have done it a little smaller because the phones are the right size for me, which makes me think they will be too big for my kinders... These were super easy too.
The latest thing I have done is Brain Break sticks from 3rd grade Thoughts. I printed mine on normal paper, then glued them to construction paper to give them some color. Then laminated it. It was kinda a big project though, lots of cutting. But she does give you 64 of them! So the kids will never get bored of these!
